Fashion photography experts, break out your legal pad and take notes. Here are the top ten fashion model poses of all time.
1. Sprawled up against the wall – For maximum impact the girl should look like she is absolutely floored – except she is up against a wall.
2. The head vise – Take one palm and press it against your face. Now take the other palm and press it against your head. Voila! Great for close-ups.
3. Really, Really Po’d – Models used to be encouraged to look cheery, but in the last few decades, a sour puss rules. “Heroin chic” took this to the extremes, but at this basic level, looking like you have PMS and you’ll bite someone’s head off it they even get near you should suffice.
4. Glamour Smoking – There is absolutely nothing glamourus about lung cancer, but this shot continues to be iconic (although increasingly less so). Good riddance!
5. Are you there God, its me Model – This entails a beatific, otherworldly stare into the great beyond. Deep, very deep.
6. All hips, all the time – Celebs have totally copied this look for the red carpet: Standing, cross one leg in front of the other and jut your hips forward. Works like a charm.
7. “Who, Me?” – You look surprised! Your hands are pressed against your chest! Your mouth is wide open! You look crazy!
8. The Jump – This is the mother of poses, which entails a model simply leaping into the air. She can look jubilant or dour, depending on the mood and the photographer’s disposition.

The jump pose sounds so hard I mean I would look totally awkward trying to do that
