How to become a Victoria’s Secret Model.

Becoming a Victoria’s Secret Model is a daunting task. Popping into their offices with chocolates and saying “hello” is not going to work. Victoria’s Secret models are among the highest paid models in the industry and the competition is fierce. If you are rejected take it gracefully as the coveted position is sought out by thousands of hopefuls. I know that doesn’t stop you from wanting to be one so here are some tips.

1. Get to know Edward Razek. Edward Razek is the man responsible for personally selecting the Victoria’s Secret models. He has been the man in charge for the last fifteen years. He has helped launched names like Heidi Klum and Daniela Pestova into superstardom.

2. Get signed by Ford or Elite in New York. They are the two models agencies who handle all the bookings for Victoria’s Secret Models.

3. Get a local modeling agent and register yourself on modeling websites. The industry needs to know that you are out there.

4. Get some pictures taken. You’ll need snapshots to get into the agencies (which they prefer) and professional pics to get the jobs. Make friends with the best photographers you can find.

5. Check your measurements. The ideal height is 5’9″ with body measurements of 34-24-34 to become a Victoria’s Secret model. Ford and Elite have height requirements which may vary. However, if your 5’2″ become an actress instead. You can be more famous than a Victoria’s Secret Model.

6. Go to the open calls at Ford or Elite or any other modeling agency that books Victoria’s Secret models in New York City. Call the agencies to find out when the open calls (this is the time modeling agents reserve to look at models and assess their potential) are. Be sure to look fantastic and answer any questions they may have for you.

7. Be on the cover of Vogue before your 18. Greatly increases your chances but not 100% required.

8. Become a part of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Competition. In October of 2009 Victoria’s secret scheduled an open call audition in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Miami to look for their next star. To qualify to be in the show you had to be between the age of 18 to 30 years old, be female, a minnimun of 5’8″ tall (barefoot) and from the United States. The 2009 winner of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show competition was Kylie Bisutti, a 19 year old girl from California who beat out more than 10,000 competitors.

9. Be a professional model. Show up on time. Don’t party late the night before a shoot. Ed Razek of Victoria’s Secret says “If your late with bags under your eyes…” (You get the idea)

10. Take care of yourself. Eat well. Excercise and be skinny. Victoria’s Secret models do not eat at McDonald’s every day. Agents are known to use measuring tapes on models regularly and encourage them to stay thin.

I know a Victoria’s Secret Model. I heard that you have to be on the cover of Vogue before you are 18 for them to even consider you. Do you know if that is true?

I love Victoria’s Secret Models so much. I was just reading an article about Miranda Kerr that said she was shopping in a Victoria’s Secret store and she spent $2500 and wasn’t comped or anything. I wonder if that is true or if that is a publicity stunt? I mean really shouldn’t she get free lingerie. Anyways thank you for writing this blog. I am your newest fan.

I am 5’10, and already taking modeling classes. My mom walked runway when she was younger. Though all I want to do is model and walk runway for Victorias Secret. My measurements are correct though I am a 34 DDD <.< will that hold me back? Because I noticed most of the models like Miranda Ker for instance is only a C cup.
